Quiet day

Shimmering bare earth,
bare limbs,
hands tearing sky,
brutal, unyielding,
drying of the world.

This land is dying,
literally, metaphorically,
drying to physical dessication,
dust spackled broken windshield,
         ash scattering late summer breeze.
