Rants and Poetry of a Tired and Angry Man.

Just what the title says, don't look for anything too profound or earthshaking.

Abandon ship

Years living in the hold,
subsisting on the scraps of my betters,
nibbling the occasional wire or hydraulic line,
exercising my small control over our collective path.

But now it feels right.
With so little left to lose,
and it's loss so near at hand,
I think it is finally time for this rat to swim for shore.

The 'why do I give a shit?' Blues

So about a year back or so I kinda gave up on most everything.

Decided I'd say 'fuck it' and just go with the flow for a while instead of banging my head against the walls trying to get ahead.

And you know what?

It has made very little difference.

I'm no poorer or richer than I was before,
I'm no worse or better than I was at my job,
I'm no less healthy than I was before,
I'm just a little less stressed out.

See, I'm learning.

The less I give a shit, the easier things seem to be.

After nearly 30 years of destroying myself for respect, for love, for a living, to make other people richer, happier, more comfortable, more successful I said fuck it...

And you know what?

The world didn't end.

Sure, some folks said goodbye once they realized I no longer had anything to give them, but overall I don't seem to have suffered too much for it.

And there are still plenty of folks who I only hear from when they want something, but I notice that they're slowly weeding themselves out as well.  (not enough return on their investment I assume)

So overall, a little painful, a bit of a shot to the pride, but no lasting damage.

I highly recommend it.

Learn to say fuck it.

It won't make your life any better, but it probably won't make it any worse either.  You get screwed either way, so if you take the path of least resistance, you might have something left over for the few things in life that are actually important.
