Rants and Poetry of a Tired and Angry Man.

Just what the title says, don't look for anything too profound or earthshaking.

Renaissance Man

At the very least (in our modern/post modern society) everyone should spend a year without hot water.

A year without heat or air conditioning.

You should experience this at least once in your life if you haven't already.

A year of cold showers.

A year of squalor
insecurity
doubt.

A year of love
A year of solitude
A year completely devoid of human touch.

Every person should spend a year without friendship of any kind
A year of hostility.

Every person should spend a year in love, if only once.

Every person should spend a year without speaking a word.

Every person should spend a year for sex,
a year celibate
a year for fun
a year in pain.

A year of sobriety
a year of incapacitation
a year of addiction
and a year of recovery.

A year without cooked food
a year without refrigeration
a year doing what you love
a year in a job you hate.

Life is a dichotomy,
and to experience it
really experience it
you need to give yourself over to the bad along with the good.

embrace it,
that's where your strength is hiding.

20 years

Coming up on the two decade mark for one of our more interesting bits of local color.

One thing I can say for this area, we do tend to attract the more interesting side of humanity.

The amazing thing is that (in certain circles) he seems to have gained a sort of pop celebrity status.  Almost like folks are so spooked by the idea of a 'normal' person acting that way that they can't help but be attracted to the story.

I've seen his inspiration in movies, tv shows, even music.
And the amazing thing is, by todays standards he's not even that entertaining.
